Over a week after rumors first surfaced that A-list couple Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are expecting their second child, the actress finally confirmed the news herself.
According to Just Jared, Cruz broke the happy news to Spanish TV network RTVE.
She told RTVE that she is “extremely happy and very excited” to be expecting again. She added that the pregnancy will keep her from going back to Spain for the Goya Awards later this month.
Earlier this month, it was first rumored that Cruz and Bardem were expecting a second child. They married in 2010 and welcomed their first child, Leo Encias Bardem, in 2011.
Cruz and Bardem are both Oscar winners and met in 2008 while filming Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which earned Cruz her Oscar. Bardem, who just appeared in Skyfall, won his for No Country For Old Men.
In 2012, Cruz worked with Allen again on To Rome With Love.
