Rapper DMX has found himself in legal trouble again after being arrested in South Carolina for driving without a license.
Fox Carolina reports that DMX, who was born Earl Simmons, was arrested early Wednesday morning. He was booked at Spartanburg County jail at 2 a.m. and was before a judge at 6 a.m. He was released after paying a fine.
In an interview with the station, DMX confirmed the arrest, noting that an officer spotted him after he left a gas station. The rapper added that his 5-month-old daughter was in the car with him.
“When I could have just paid the money right there on the spot,” he said. “Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing. I don't have a court date or a court appearance.”
DMX has been issued tickets in the past for driving without a license. He only had a state ID card on him today. Police did let another passenger in the vehicle who had a license take the car after DMX’s arrest.
HipHopDX notes that DMX has been incarcerated 13 times and in July 2011, he was released after serving seven months in jail for a probation violation.
In May 2012, DMX tried to restart his career with Undisputed, but the album sold just 17,000 copies in its first week.
Digital Spy also notes that he was involved in a traffic accident in July.
