It’s been ten years since the original U.K. version of The Office ended, but it remains a fan favorite, thanks to Ricky Gervais’ hilariously inept boss character David Brent. Gervais has revived the character for a short one-off special that will air in the U.K. in March.
Gervais posted a short trailer on YouTube, which links to an extended teaser for The Office Revisited. According to Entertainment Weekly, the special will feature Brent trying to pursue his dreams of breaking into the music industry.
“He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock stars now and is living vicariously through a young performer, Dom Johnson,” Gervais said in a statement. “Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock and roll. Fans of The Office will be excited to know we finally get to hear the whole of ‘The Serpent Who Guards the Gates of Hell’ and an amazing Brent self-funded video, ‘Equality Street.’ Horrendous.”
The Office Revisited will air on BBC One’s Red Nose Day on March 15. The event helps raise money for charities in the U.K.
Gervais co-created The Office with Stephen Merchant and it inspired the popular NBC series of the same name. Steve Carell’s character was based off of Gervais, who actually made several appearances on the U.S. show.
