Robert De Niro, 69, left his handprints and footprints in cement along Hollywood Boulevard outside the TCL Chinese Theater Monday.
The honor of having his prints and signature outside the theater has finally come for the two time Academy Award winner. According to E!, actor Billy Crystal and Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell both spoke at the ceremony.
"You know, Joe Pesci always said I'd end up with my feet in cement," De Niro told the crowd. "I don't think this is what he had in mind."
De Niro, who is now nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook, won the same award for his work in The Godfather Part II. He also won a Best Actor Oscar for Raging Bull.
Some of De Niro’s other film credits include classics such as Taxi Driver (1976), Goodfellas (1990), Cape Fear (1991) and Casino (1995). The list goes on and on. What took so long for him to get this honor is what baffles people.
Laist reports that De Niro has several other projects in the works over the next year.
