Samantha Ronson, a DJ famous for dating actress Lindsay Lohan, recently opened up about their relationship and how the spotlight affected her in an interview with Joy Bryant.
The interview, which is part of Bryant's "Across the Board" YouTube interview series, shows Ronson talking about being forced into the spotlight in 2008. “The whole thing is so absurd to me. I have been DJing for 14 years with a steady career all the way through ... and it was perfectly fine to fly under the radar,” Ronson says, according to omg!
Ronson adds, “I had panic attacks all the time. I lost so much weight, had so much anxiety, it just made it whack."
On getting her photo taken by the paparazzi, she says, "I would go in and out of clubs – even the paparazzi would laugh – they would see me for years outside the same clubs, smoking cigarettes, talking s**t, and they’re like ‘I’m so sorry’ … [but] this is what [the media wants]," reports omg!
Ronson comes from a musical family, her stepdad the guitarist of Foreigner and her brother the producer of Amy Winehouse's Back to Black, and she began DJing when a DJ at a club she hung out at did not show up.
“It was never a plan at all. When I was dating (someone) … (who) was the doorman at Moomba, and the DJ didn’t show up. And I had just gotten a car and had a bunch of CDs in my car.”
