Android phones are not just the top selling Smartphone, but now they are catching up to Apple in terms of web usage.
According to App Advice, Apple had a 12 percent lead over Android in terms of web usage, but in a new survey that 12 percent has now shrunk to 2 percent.
“The amount of Web traffic generated by Samsung Galaxy S III and iPhone 5 users is a near-50/50 split,” said advertising and analytics company Chitika.
Why the drop in percentage for Apple?
Studies show that it’s all determined by who’s using the phones and how easy to use the phones are, reports Venture Beat. The effect of Android being the top selling phone has to do with the amount of consumers using their Smartphone for the web.
The previous study, which was done in October, compared web usages for the iPhone 5 and Samsungs Galaxy S3.
“Both iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 III have doubled web traffic share since October,” Chitika said.
Is the percentage rising because there are more Galaxy S3’s out there or because users are just using them more for the web? Chitika does not collect data from individual phones and could not answer.
