Scarlett Johansson has just revealed that she had auditioned for a role in Les Miserables, but lost the part to Anne Hathaway.
In an interview with Broadway.com, the star shared that she had always wanted to snag the role of Fantine for the film version of Les Miserables. The actress described her audition and said, “I sang my little heart out.”
Us Weekly reports that the actress was actually sick when she was auditioning for the part.
The Avengers star shared, "I auditioned with laryngitis. I did everything I could to, like, not have laryngitis." While the actress would have loved to be a part of the Oscar-nominated movie she added, “I think, looking at the film now, there's no possible way I ever could have topped that performance.”
While she may have not received the role for Les Miserables, the actress did score the role of Margaret in the current showing of the Broadway play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The star gushed about her love for theater saying, “If you’ll have me [on Broadway], I’ll be here. I promise. It’s the best job, really. The best job ever.”
