Stone Temple Pilots band member Scott Weiland is fighting back after the band announced his termination on Wednesday. Just 24 hours later, Weiland is firing back with his own statement.
Starpulse reports that the singer released his own statement in light of his termination saying, “I learned of my supposed 'termination' from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted, and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out."
As we previously reported, the group's publicist announced Weiland’s firing with a one sentence statement.
“Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.” No additional details were revealed as to why Dean and Robert DeLeo, along with Eric Kretz opted to announce his termination so vaguely.
Starpulse notes that the band members have frequently butted heads, and Weiland has been kicked off of a band before. In 2007 he was kicked out of Velvet Revolver in the same year STP reunited.
Details surrounding his termination are anticipated to be revealed “soon,” per a rep for the group.
