Selena Gomez attended the Adidas Neo show in New York Wednesday night to debut the collection she's been working on. The starlet, who was recently named a global style icon by the brand, was met by a pack of protesters.
According to Fox News Latino, the protestors were from a group called United States Against Sweatshops. One protestor handed the 20 year old actress a flyer with the words: "Selena Gomez: Be an ambassador for children, not for sweatshops.”
“We’re here to tell Selena Gomez that she should cut ties with Adidas because Adidas has refused to pay severance to 2,800 garment workers who sewed its apparel for over 10 years,” said Claire Lewis, a student at Northwestern and member of USAS told Yahoo. “We’ve been campaigning for the last year.”
Hollywood Gossip reports that as Gomez recovered from the incident, the protestors were escorted away by security.
Gomez later acknowledged the event on Twitter, choosing the focus on the positives of the night:"Amazing show for @adidasNEOLabel tonight!! They looked amazing."
