Selena Gomez’s role in the soon to be released Spring Breakers is certainly not Disney appropriate, but she says showing off more of herself didn’t faze her.
Gomez tells MTV that although the role is different from what she’s done in the past, she didn’t mind having to wear just a bikini for most of the movie.
"It was so funny. The rest of the girls were in the trailer doing crunches. I didn't mind. I didn't care," she says. "People already have opinions. I was playing a character, so I just completely indulged myself in that. So whether I was in a bathing suit or a turtleneck, I was fine."
Still, she wouldn’t recommend her younger fans go watch the movie just yet.
“When I see the parents, I go, ‘Maybe they don’t see this one,’” she says.
Much of the movie's content revolves around drugs and alcohol, even starring James Franco as a drug-dealing gangster, according to the Daily News.
Still, Gomez is glad she did it and knows her fans will understand why she did. “I think it was a good thing for me, and my fans were super supportive … It's an art piece, and it's real, and it's so raw."
The movie, which also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine, is set to be released March 22 nationwide. The movie trailer can be seen below.
