Seth MacFarlane and Kristin Chenoweth to perform musical number at the Oscars

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will not only show off his hosting abilities at the Oscars this year, but also his singing chops as he is slated to take on a musical number with Broadway starlet Kristin Chenoweth to close out the ceremony.

Cinema Blend reports that MacFarlane and Chenoweth’s musical number is planned in the hopes of bringing a more musical aspect to the awards show which was lacking last year.

Academy Awards producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron made the announcement earlier this year.

Despite his controversial topics and humor, MacFarlane actually has a strong knowledge of musical numbers as seen in the adult cartoon. In addition to Chenoweth and MacFarlane, Adele, Norah Jones, Catherine Zeta-Jones -- who will join the cast of Les Miserables for a musical number -- Jennifer Hudson and Barbra Streisand are also slated to perform.

Chenoweth’s return to the stage will come after she suffered a severe head and neck injury on the set of The Good Wife last summer when a gust of wind brought a land fixture down on the actress’ head. She was forced to quit her role following the accident.

The Oscars air this Sunday, Feb. 24. On ABC.
