After seven years, the Sony Corporation has introduced the PlayStation 4. It is being advertised as a “supercharged PC.”
The New York Times reports that the system will have an 8-core processor, better graphics and the ability to game while downloading.
According to USA Today, the biggest change is actually the controller.
The DualShock 4 controller contains a stereo camera. The controller has a motion sensor, a touchpad and a light bar which identifies players. The controller also has a Share button which players can use to upload videos of their game play to other players.
Andrew House, chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment, announced, “Today marks a moment of truth and a bold step forward for PlayStation.…[The Playstation 4] represents a significant shift of thinking of PlayStation as merely a box or console to thinking as a leading authority on play.”
The event did not release what the system will look like, the release date or mention the price.
