'Teen Mom 2' star diagnosed with bipolar disorder

Kailyn Lowry, 20, one of the stars of MTV’s Teen Mom 2, has admitted she’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

A fight with husband Javi Marroquin allegedly got very intense, and pushed Lowry to seek counseling. It was through counseling that she learned she had bipolar disorder, which she will soon be taking medication for, according to Starcasm. Lowry also revealed that her mother is bipolar.

Lowry did not give specifics on the altercation with Marroquin, but it will most likely be aired during the fourth season of the show. She did however offer an apology for her actions.

"I just want to publicly apologize in advance to my fans, and even though Javi and I have moved on from it, I want to say I'm sorry again to him and his family for letting my emotions get the best of me. I know how humiliating that is for them and I'm humiliated myself."

Bipolar disorder is described as periods of mania alternating with periods of depression, often interdispersed with long intervals of normal mood.

Yahoo! News reports Lowry and Marroquin were engaged and wed in September 2012. Lowry lives in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, while Marroquin is completing Air Force training in Texas.
