Fox’s Sleepy Hollow pilot has found its Ichabod Crane. Tom Mison, who appeared in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, has been cast as the lead character.
Deadline confirmed that Mison will co-star with Nicole Beharie (Shame, 42), who will play detective Abbie Archer. The series takes a modern spin on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, although Ichabod himself is actually from the Revolutionary War period. He gets stuck in a time warp and sent to the present and works with the detective to stop a modern Headless Horseman.
The series was pitched to Fox last summer and was created by Fringe team Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman as their first project after Fringe ended. They wrote the pilot with Phillip Iscove. It will be produced by 20th TV with the team’s K/O Paper Products.
Len Wiseman (Underworld) is still set to direct the pilot.
Mison recently starred in HBO’s Parade’s End, which starts tonight.
Sleepy Hollow was the basis for Tim Burton’s 1999 film, which starred Johnny Depp as Ichabod.
