Up and comer Tom Odell started a flurry of rumors when he exchanged some tweets with Taylor Swift.
Odell covered Swift’s song “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and she took to Twitter to say how much she enjoyed it.
"So I was already a @tompeterodell superfan... Now I'm just floored. This is so good,” she wrote, much to the excitement of the British Odell, Spinner reports.
He retweeted her compliment and wrote, "yesssssssss pleased you like it.. xx."
When Odell found out that exchange was billed as Swift trying to make her ex, Harry Styles, jealous, he told Spinner "That's odd, isn't it? That's crazy. That's mad.”
He added of their flirtation, "Well... maybe she is. Quite nice. She's a pretty girl."
Odell was then asked if he would be feuding with Styles about it, and he said “Perhaps. I don't know," adding, "I've never met her before, so it's strange, flirting with her. But if she is, then cool. I should have flirted more back, maybe."
All fun and joking aside, Odell got deep about Swift, saying her lyrics are dark and her “songs are brilliant.”
"Taylor Swift is a really intriguing character in music in that she's one of the biggest pop stars in the world and yet I think her songs are brilliant, I really do. I think she writes really dark lyrics,” he said.
“I remember the song before, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,' I really liked that song and then I heard 'Trouble' and I listened to the lyrics and I was thinking it would be cool to just do a slightly different take on this and make it a bit darker musically. Because lyrically it is quite dark. I think she's a lot more real than people think she is."
Styles, meanwhile, told Us Weekly he thought Swift’s performance at the Brit Awards was “great.”
