Toni Braxton announces plans to quit making music, hopeful to take on more acting projects (Video)

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Toni Braxton is calling it quits from her career in music as the Grammy award-winning songstress stated that her “heart just isn’t in it anymore.”

According to Us Weekly, Braxton made the shocking announcement on Friday’s edition of Good Morning America. During the interview she explained, “It's not affecting me, making me feel that thing I've always felt when I perform. It's leaving me.” She added, "I'm not sure what's going on in my life. Maybe a female mid-life crisis? My heart isn't in it anymore. I hate to say that."

Examiner reported that, currently, producers are trying to have Braxton make a new album, but she just isn’t into the idea.

Braxton also discussed her decision to walk away from music on the Wendy Show with Wendy Williams.

"For what I do, I have to love it. I have to feel that excitement and it's gone. I'm just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects,” she explained, Us Weekly reported.

Braxton did discuss her desire to work more in film in addition to the type of character she would like to take on next. "I would like to play a lesbian. I don't know why. And do a whole make-out scene and the whole thing; just something completely different than people would expect from me. Not a lipstick lesbian, either."

She has not currently signed on to any projects.
