While some Oscar attendees stuck with a boring classic silhouette (we're looking at you Jen Aniston!), others tried very hard to go mod à la Destiny's Child’s Kelly Rowland. Here is a list of Oscar favorites, ranging from veterans on the red carpet to newbies to the award circuit:
10. Amy Adams
One of the first to arrive on the carpet, Adams wore a strapless Oscar de la Renta gown. Despite a wardrobe malfunction, the actress still managed to walk the rest of the way with her powder-blue long train intact.
9. Jennifer Lawrence
The Silver Linings Playbook actress looked like a princess in this pale pink Dior Haute Couture stunner. Like many ladies tonight, Lawrence kept jewelry minimal with Chopard earrings.
8. Amanda Seyfried
The Les Misérables star knew exactly what she was going to wear before the red carpet because the Alexander McQueen halter dress was custom made for her months beforehand. Seyfried went the simple route with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and natural make-up.
7. Jessica Chastain
Decked out in a copper tone Armani Privé dress with a Swarovski layer of crystals, the Zero Dark Thirty actress matched her gown to her wavy locks. Jessica Rabbit would be proud.
6. Jennifer Garner
The actress is a vision in purple. While the silhouette looks simple in the front, the back of the Gucci dress is exquisite with the ruffled train.
5. Sandra Bullock
Donning an Elie Saab dress, Sandra Bullock paired her lacey beaded gown with a simple bedazzled hair clip. Bullock paired her black semi-sheer dress with a gold clutch but kept her hair and make-up low maintenance.
4. Octavia Spencer
Spencer looked glamorous in this white gown as a presenter at the Oscars. The intricate beading and the tulle made this Tadashi Shoji dress look far from boring. The Oscar winner matched the dress to her Edie Parker clutch and dangling earrings.
3. Halle Berry
Berry stood out in this metallic pantsuit. The Versace outfit accentuated the Oscar winner's curves without overdoing it. The semi-sheer sleeves and stripes are sure to make this an outfit to remember!
2. Naomie Harris
The Skyfall actress was in head-to-toe gold with this Michael Badger number. The dress featured a long slit that would have given Angelina Jolie’s leg a run for its money. Plus, everything on the gown is recycled. The shiny details on the top of the dress are all made of candy wrappers.
1. Alicia Vikander
The Swedish newcomer looked ethereal in this baby blue Elie Saab dress. Here to support her film, Anna Karenina, Vikander went with an up-do and flower-shaped earrings.
