Travis Barker will not fly to Australia for Blink 182 tour, still too afraid to fly

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Fans of Blink 182 will be excited to see the band in Australia, but disappointed to learn the band will appear sans drummer Travis Barker.

According to the Huffington Post, Barker is still rocked by the 2008 plane crash that took the life of his friend Chris Baker, along with three additional passengers.

Baker announced the news on Facebook. He writes, “I'm sorry to announce i won't be joining Blink-182 on this Australian tour. I still haven't gotten over the horrific events that took place the last time i flew when my plane crashed and 4 people were killed, two being my best friends,” he explained.

“I gave the band my blessing to take another drummer if they still wanted to do the tour without me. I hope to come to Australia again some day perhaps by ship if need be. Unfortunately, there wasn't a boat that worked with the schedule this time around. Once again I'm sorry to all the fans.”

Huffington Post reports that Barker has not flown since the tragic 2008 event and has relied on sea travel when his concerts are out of the country. He has traveled to the U.K. via boat in order perform with his bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge.
