Unfortunately for Twilight, the series’ latest movie, Breaking Dawn ¬—¬¬ Part 2, won big at Saturday night’s Razzie Awards.
The Razzies were started in the 1980s to combat the Hollywood glam of awards season. Voting for the awards this year was based on the ballots of over 650 Golden Raspberry Foundation members and 70,000 voters on the Rotten Tomato website — the outcome of which led to Breaking Dawn — Part 2 accruing seven “wins” at this tribute to movie failures, Reuters reported.
"I believe the attitude of people who really love `Twilight' movies toward this subject is very similar to the pomposity with which the Academy Awards addresses the whole rest of the world,” Razzies founder John Wilson told the Associated Press. “Our whole existence is all about making fun of pompous, so `Twilight' really is right up our alley."
While Breaking Dawn — Part 2 won both Worst Picture, Worst Screen Ensemble, Worst director and Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel, the film’s cast also received individual honors. Kristen Stewart was awarded Worst Actress for both her roles as Bella Swan in the vampire saga, as well as for her work in Snow White and the Huntsman. Commenting on the actress’s range of emotion, Wilson said, “Kristen Stewart is so expressionless she might as well be a brick wall."
While Robert Pattinson walked away unscathed, Taylor Lautner received Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Couple for his role as the werewolf Jacob Black.
