More stories about vampires are coming to the big screen. Director Mark Waters will direct Blood Sisters, the first film adapted from the best-selling adult book series, Vampire Academy.
The Wrap reported that Waters’s brother, Dan Waters, is writing the script based on the first book of Vampire Academy. The series is written by Richelle Mead and there are six books so far.
Blood Sisters talks about two inseparable vampires, Rose Hathaway and Princess Lissa, both of whom fall in love with their guardian, Dimitri.
According to Deadline, Zoey Deutch, whose Beautiful Creatures will be in theaters soon, will play Rose Hathaway, a dhampir, half human/half vampire. Australian newcomer Lucy Fry will play Princess Lissa, and Russian actor Danila Kozlovski will play Dimitri.
The original books have been on the top of the young adult list of the New York Times since 2007. More than 4.5 million copies had been printed as of 2010.
The book is narrated from Rose’s point of view. Rose can read Lissa’s mind and feelings because of their mysterious bond.
