Watch Carly Rae Jepsen’s new music video 'Tonight I’m Getting Over You'

By Lena Finkel,

Just in time for the weekend, Carly Rae Jepsen has released the music video to her newest dance single “Tonight I’m Getting Over You.”

The song, which declares Carly’s desire to get past her ex, is like a single girl anthem, with lyrics like, “No more crying to get me through/ I keep dancing til the morning with somebody new.”

According to MTV, the video follows Carly’s relationship through the ups and downs. What starts out as a fun romp in the city soon becomes disastrous and ends when the boyfriend moves out of her apartment and she’s left to watch old home movies alone. Although completely PG, the music video features a much grungier Carly.

She told People, “With this particular song, it was sort of that decision that even though [the relationship] is hot and cold, sometimes you've got to move on."

But unlike fellow pop star Taylor Swift, Carly refuses to reveal the inspiration behind the song. She said it was “probably for the best" that he didn’t know it was about him.

“Tonight I’m Getting Over You” is the second single from her album Kiss, which reached number 6 on Billboard’s album charts last September, reported The Examiner.
