Whitney Houston's mother calls invite to Clive Davis's pre-Grammy bash 'obscene'

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Whitney Houston’s mother received an invitation to Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy bash, and while some of Houston’s family is considering going, Cissy Houston is calling the invite obscene.

"I got an invitation to the party, which is the most obscene thing,” Cissy tells Access Hollywood, as quoted by Us Weekly. "I don't know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? Unheard of."

This pre-Grammy bash will mark one year since Whitney was found dead in her bathtub.

“I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake,” Cissy adds.

However, Whitney's brother Gary and sister-in-law Pat feel differently. Gary notes that Clive was a big part of his sister’s life. “I mean, that was her industry father and he really, really was," Pat said. "My husband and I will definitely be there this weekend to support Clive. Absolutely."

According to E! News, Clive has since stated that he wants to dedicate a portion of this year's party to the late iconic singer. “She was this generation's greatest, greatest singing talent,” he tells E! “So we'll do something over the course of the evening Saturday night to show that."

"It's very much with me and she'll be with me,” he adds.

Gary and Pat Houston will be attending the event; Cissy has since declined the invitation.
