Wreck-It Ralph scored big, winning a total of five Annie Awards, the annual awards given for animation.
The film won the most coveted award of the night, Best Animated Film of 2012, as well as Best Directing, Music, Voice Acting, and Best Writing, according to Deadline.
The movie, which came out November 2 of last year, tells the story of a video game character who tires of always being the villain. It featured the voice of John C. Reilly as Ralph and was directed by Rich Moore.
Other big winners of the night included The Avengers for animated effects and Life of Pi for character animation, reported The Miami Herald. Disney’s Paperman, which is also nominated for an Oscar, won for Best Animated Short.
Winning the Annie has given Wreck-It Ralph high hope for taking home the Oscar. In his acceptance speech, producer Clark Spencer said, “Because of them, we are believing in ourselves again,” according to The New York Times. Other Oscar nominees for Best Animated Feature include Brave, Frankenweenie, ParaNorman, and The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
