Here's our list of albums out this summer we are really excited for!
10. Mariah Carey (May)
After reaffirming her position as the true diva of all pop-stars by judging American Idol, Mimi has plans to release her next album in May. Her first studio album release since 2009's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel , Carey is working with many of her veteran producers, including L.A. Reid, Jermaine Dupri and Benny Blanco. The final product is sure to be Carey's signature blend of velvety vocals, pop candy and soulful seduction.
9. Goo Goo Dolls- Magnetic (May 7)
The rock band is releasing their first album since 2010's Something for the Rest of Us . The Goo Goo Dolls' sound is a mix of coffee house rock, brilliant lyrics and a raw sense of intimacy. Magnetic is sure to live up to its title.
8. Vampire Weekend- Modern Vampires of the City (May 7)
Vampire Weekend arguably started the wave of mainstream indie music with their 2010 album Contra . Now the band is hoping for lightning to strike twice. We cannot wait for this album!
7. Daft Punk (May)
One more time, we're "gonna celebrate!" And now, these lyrics ring true. There is no better season to dance than summer, and Daft Punk gives us the best music for dancing. The Grammy-winning band will release their first studio album since 2005’s Human After All in May. Daft Punk's innovative sound, including elements of house, ambient and electronica, makes them the best soundtrack to any grimy and nasty basement rave.
6. The Wanted- Third Strike (May)
Call us juvenile. Call us silly. Call us awesome. Either way, we are still excited about The Wanted's new album, launching in May. Third Strike is the Irish pop boy band's latest endeavor, and we cannot wait to blast their catchy pop hooks in our cars.
5. 3OH!3- Omens (June 18)
It has been three years since 3OH!3's Streets of Gold , featuring "My First Kiss" with Ke$ha. The band is long overdue for a new release, and Omens seems to be just the ticket. With an interesting sound of electronic and rock music, 3OH!3's newest album is sure to be catchy, moody and hard.
4. Cher (September)
Farewell? Not quite. Even though Cher told fans her 2002 Farewell Tour would be her last, she could not stay away from the spotlight. Yes, the "Believe" singer is going on tour once again, and she is bringing new songs from her upcoming album along the way. Slated for a September release, Cher's next album will undoubtedly be fun, freeing and fabulous. Booming dance hooks and cascading bridges will fill every song and, soon, every dance club around the world.
3. Hanson (June)
MMM Bop Part II? We hope so!
2. Akon- Stadium (June)
Akon's latest album, slated for a June release, is sure to mix the signature rapper's vocals with pounding beats. We cannot wait to hear what this hit-maker creates. After 2009's Freedom and 2006's Konvict, featuring the delectable "Smack That," he has some big shoes to fill!
1. Darius Rucker- True Believer (June)
The Carolina-bred country heartthrob will be releasing True Believer in June. The only African American artist to ever win Best New Artist from the Country Music Association, Rucker has a large following. His album will be the summer anthem for many country-loving youths!
