The episode "Dinner, Bath, Puzzle" of 1600 Penn was an encompassing one. It touched on Emily and the President's relationship, Skip and his younger siblings, and lastly the D.B., Becca, Marshal situation.
The French visited the President, told Emily and him to have a special night. The French explained that the two were to eat a spicy dinner, take a scolding hot bath, and do a puzzle. This combination, according to the French would create a romantic evening that would end in passion. A skeptical President reluctantly agreed to try such a night for Emily.
President Gilchrist and Emily asked that Skip watch the children and occupy them for the night. Skip found his once loving brother and sister much more difficult to manage then he recalled. He frequently interrupted the President and Emily. When he interrupted the President the first time him and Emily were kissing in the kitchen. Skip explained that Xander and Marigold didn't respect his authority. President Gilchrist explained that Skip had to be the man of the house, put his foot down and make the children do three things. The three things were homework, teeth, bed. He instructed Skip to achieve those three simple objectives.
The episode then moved to Becca and D.B. in the private White House Theater. D.B. wanted to watch a movie where men subject themselves to painful and idiotic activities. As Becca and D.B. began watching Marshal came in, with French films, wine and a beret. Becca encouraged him to stay and watch the French films with her and D.B.
D.B. grew bored of the film and left to go to the bathroom. Becca was fearful D.B. knew that her and Marshal had feelings for one another. Marshal explained that she was over thinking it and he didn't know they had dated. Becca was insistent that she tell D.B. Upon his return he remarked look at those love birds. Becca panicked and explained to D.B. that her and Marshal dated. D.B. was shocked and pointed to the screen where two birds were, and said he was referring to the birds.
Marshal and D.B. began bonding and talking about the things Becca does that bothered them. During the conversation D.B. unexpectedly punched Marshal in the face. Marshal was shocked and angry. D.B. apologized and said he was shocked he did it. During his apology D.B. began saying he knew how to make it right and Marshal interrupted him with a jab to the face. D.B. then expressed he felt better about the whole thing.
Skip meanwhile was trying to command the children. Marigold said she would only listen if Xander returned her magazine. Skip confronted Xander, who was reading Cosmopolitan (Marigold's magazine). He was asking Skip about the G-spot and other female items. Skip returned to Marigold who expressed that she was reading it because she wanted girls to like her.
Skip rushed to his father and stepmother. They were in the scolding bath as instructed, and Skip tried to explain the situation However, the lovers wanted to hear nothing about it, and the President said unless someone was hurt, on fire or dead don't come back.
Skip then ran off to Becca, and asked for help. She said she couldn't help. Skip asked if anyone was hurt, on fire or dead. Becca said Marshal was hurt, so he excused her from helping. He rushed back to the kids, first to Xander with an anatomy textbook. However, Xander was asleep and he dodged the bullet on having to confront Xander about the G-spot question.
He returned Marigold her magazine, and they made a pact; whom ever figured out women first would help the other. Skip felt good that his siblings bonded and looked up to him for help. He took Marigold's magazine so he could resolve the mystery of the G-spot. The President and Emily were in bed, red from their scolding bath and tired. They thought they had been tricked by the French. Emily was reluctant to quit and demanded they completed a puzzle. The two complete a puzzle of a cute kitten and then instantly began embracing one another in passion.
The next episode of 1600 Penn is Thursday, March 28. The episode is called "Bursting the Bubble."
