'1600 Penn' Recap: 'Game Theory'

By Drew Barile,

'Game Theory' was a good episode of 1600 Penn it was a much more dynamic episode. The episode had a better focus on the characters and their relationships. Skip had another shot with Stacy. D.B. and Becca were disagreeing about the baby's room. President Gilchrist and Xander go head-to-head in Risk, the board game. And of course Marshall was in the episode doing damage control in the background.

Skip got another chance with Stacy. Skip had created a grand plan to romance Stacy. However, Emily disagreed and thought that Skip should tone it down. Emily as interloper decided to help Skip prepare for his date.

President Gilchrist and Xander prepared for their usual game of Risk. However, this time around Xander was prepared as he had read, "Game Theory." Xander was more than ready to finally best his father.

D.B. and Becca decided to paint a room for their expected child. However, they were at odds about how it should be done. Becca wouldn't allow D.B. to paint what he wanted, and every time he made a color suggestion, she made him put it into the waiting pile. Eventually he became fed up and decided he was going to paint Uncle Randy, Ironman and the things he wanted. Where as Becca wanted to just paint the history of women's achievement.

Emily caught up with Skip as he and his secret service guard Tom were filling red balloons with red rose pedals. She sat down next to him and explained that Skip should "unskip" himself a bit and maybe tone down the Skip level to 60 percent, maybe even less. Emily did a mock date conversation with Skip, where she instructed him to drink water whenever he needed to think a response through.

Skip went on his date with Stacy as Emily watched from outside a truck. She communicated via walkie talkie with Tom who was inside and could overhear the date. Tom relayed that the date wasn't going well. Emily commanded he spill a drink on Stacy and give Skip his ear piece so she could talk him through it. Tom reluctantly agreed and Emily coached Skip through the date. Skip however, predictably, repeated every word Emily said. Eventually slipping up and repeating something Emily meant to say to Becca, as she was on the phone with her simultaneously. Skip revealed the truth, showed the ear piece and Stacy was overwhelmed. Emily came inside and tried to smooth it over. But Stacy stormed off. Skip became mad at Emily and rebuked her for not letting him be him. He stood up and proclaimed he would have his veal to go. And before he could finish his sentence Tom was there with the veal in a doggie bag, to which Skip shouted, "he gets me."

Meanwhile D.B. and Becca had a paint brush fight out of anger that evolved into a sexual rumpus. Xander and his father were fighting in Risk. Xander had the upper hand and was invading from Australia. The president called all his military advisors for a emergency session to discuss a plan of defense against an invasion from Australia against a hold up in the Ural Mountains. He advisors deduced he was planing Risk. The President apologized, but the advisors explained it is not just a game, because once a child beats a father, they become an adult and don't respect a father the same. The advisors suggested making an alliance or going nuclear (flipping the board). Before he had called the meeting Marigold interjected herself into the game.

The President returned to the game made a pack with Marigold and was holding on, but she got bored and quit. Xander was winning again. The President sent Xander to bed before he could beat him. But eventually went to Xander's bedroom and finished the game allowing Xander to defeat him. Xander gloated and the President went sulking away.

Emily went to Stacy's home to implore her, on Skip's behalf, for another chance. She expressed that he is too weird, which Emily agreed with fully. But stressed that his great heart will shine through and overshadow his eccentric's. As she had Stacy on the fence, Skip came down the street dressed to the 9s and singing with the balloons exploding roses on him. He only solidified his weirdness to Stacy and blew his chance.

Emily and Skip returned home and the next day unfolded. Emily apologized to Skip, but Skip was okay with the rejection. As Stacy had rejected him for him and that was honest. Emily and Skip saw Becca and D.B.'s wall mural. Skip was happy to see Uncle Randy on the wall and commended D.B.
Emily agreed not to interfere with the mural compromise. But as she was saying such, Xander penetrated the dry wall with the President's Marine Saber. She rushed off to address that issue, and the episode ended with Emily reprimanding the President for letting a child have a sword.
