Because he doesn’t feel he made his point strong enough in the first movie, filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza has decided to make a follow-up to 2016: Obama’s America. The new movie will simply be called America.
2016, which came out back in July 2012, was the second highest grossing political documentary, according to Deadline. The movie’s tagline read, “love him hate him you don’t know him,” which was ironic considering that D’Souza himself clearly did not “know” him either. After the movie’s release, The Huffington Post confirmed that much of what D’Souza had attempted to pass off as fact was actually far from it. This did not stop the movie from making almost $33.5 million.
The new film attempts to answer the question, what would the world be like if the U.S had never existed? Deadline says that he claims he wants to make the movie since we are “now living in the America that we warned our fellow citizens could come to pass if President Obama were re-elected.”
He added, “We intend to provide both serious answers and have some fun as we take Obama’s dreams for America to their logical conclusions,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
D’Souza plans to release the movie in 2014.
