ABC Family’s ‘Baby Daddy’ picked up for third season

By Lena Finkel,

Although season 2 has yet to even air, ABC Family has already renewed their hit comedy Baby Daddy. And apparently for good reason too, because the show currently holds the title as ABC Family’s number one comedy series ever!

ABC Family executives have certainly been quite proud of their little gold mine. The networks president Michael Riley even announced, “Baby Daddy was an immediate success when it launched. Based on the creative strength we saw during production on season two, and how the episodes, story lines and characters are developing, we decided to double down on this hit show and keep it in production for additional episodes,” according to The Hollywood Reporter .

The summer comedy follows a young man who must face his new-found fatherhood when his ex-girlfriend leaves him the baby. It features Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Derek Thelar, Tahj Mowry, Melissa Peterman, and Chelsea Kane.

The show has become a clear hit with the 18-34 age group, as well as with the tweens reported Deadline . And although the fates of other ABC Family shows have yet to be determined, the network never had to think twice about Baby Daddy.

Riley added, “We have a great deal of faith that our brilliant creative team and wonderful cast will continue to warm our hearts and make us laugh each week.”

The second season airs May 29.
