Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf feud continues with newly released emails

By Daniel S Levine,

Never send an email to Shia LaBeouf. He may use it against you in a Twitter feud. The battle between LaBeouf and Alec Baldwin in the aftermath of LaBeouf’s decision to drop out of a Broadway show has continued thanks after Baldwin commented about him in an interview over the weekend.

After LaBeouf dropped out of Orphans, which would have been his first Broadway production, the Lawless actor tweeted a series of behind-the-scenes emails between him, Baldwin and other members of the production. During the Twitter rant, LaBeouf tweeted, “The theater belongs not to the great but to the brash. acting is not for gentlemen, or bureaucratic-academics. what they do is antiart.”

Baldwin recently spoke to Vulture at the Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards to respond.

“I can tell you that, in all honesty, I don’t think he’s in a good position to be giving interpretations of what the theater is and what the theater isn’t,” the former 30 Rock star said. “I mean, he was never in the theater. He came into a rehearsal room for six or seven days and, uh — you know, sometimes film actors — I mean, there are people who are film actors who have a great legacy in the theater.”

Baldwin continued, talking about the differences between films and theater. “It’s a much more intensive and kind of thoughtful process. And there are people who that’s just not their thing. So for those people who I think it’s not their thing, I’m not really interested in their opinion of it. But thanks,” he said.

So, today, LaBeouf responded on Twitter by sharing more emails with director Daniel Sullivan, notes Entertainment Weekly. In the new emails, Sullivan praises LaBeouf’s work. One email also shows an older exchange with Baldwin, including one in which he tells LaBeouf, “I’m not you f**ckin’ chief.” In another, Sullivan told LaBeouf he shouldn’t be surprised if Baldwin doesn’t look away from the script because “I suspect he’s not nearly as prepared as you are.”

Baldwin hasn’t responded yet.
