Alyson Hannigan, who currently stars on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, was granted a restraining order against a New Hampshire man who posted threatening messages online.
Last month, Hannigan obtained a temporary restraining order against John Hobbs, 43. She had noted that Hobbs had just been released from a mental hospital band began posting a “barrage” of messages online that threatened her and her family. In the messages, he claimed he would rape her and take her “to the afterlife.”
Before the hearing today, TMZ had reported that Hobbs did not plan to fight Hannigan’s filing for a long-term restraining order. He had agreed to stay 100 yards away from the American Pie star for three years.
The Associated Press reported that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carol Boas Goodson made it official, ordering Hobbs to stop posting messages online and stay away from Hannigan, her husband and two children for three years.
Hannigan plays Lily on CBS’ sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The show is in its eight season and will end after season nine. She did not attend today’s hearing.
