Ang Lee’s next project will be the FX television pilot Tyrant.
According to Slashfilm.com, the project will be Lee’s directorial debut on TV. Lee will direct the pilot and act as executive producer on the show. Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff, who created Homeland and Hatufim respectively, developed the project.
Tyrant is about the story of an American family involved with the working of a hostile Middle Eastern country. Raff wrote the script and Wright will serve as executive producer alongside Lee. Raff wrote every episode of the Israeli series Hatufim reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Lee has a lengthy resume of critical acclaim with few commercial flops. He has won two Oscars as a director. The first came for directing Brokeback Mountain in 2005. The most recent came from directing last year’s Life of Pi. He was also nominated for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. He has one blemish on his career though - 2003's Hulk.
Tyrant has not been ordered as a series yet.
