'The Bachelor' Recap: After the Final Rose

In this special 1-hour Bachelor after show, Sean interacts with both Catherine and Lindsay for the first time since the show's finale, and the identity of the next Bachelorette is revealed.

After only 30 seconds on stage, the audience yells at Sean to take his shirt off. His reply: “Not happening.” Chris Harrison jokes that the best part of the show being over is he never has to see Sean naked again.

Sean noticeably lights up when he talks about Catherine. She is the love of his life, and the time they were forced to spend a part has only allowed their love to grow.

He also reveals that the only other time he cried as much as he did when he let Lindsay go was years prior when his grandfather passed away. He is excited to see her, but does not know whether the feeling will be mutual.

It is Lindsay’s turn to face Sean for the first time since he broke her heart. It is hard for her to see him, especially since he does not have anything to add to provide her with closure. Their relationship was not lacking anything. He knew Catherine was the one he loved at the end of their last date.

Lindsay gained a lot from being on The Bachelor. Although it was a difficult recovery that involved leaning on her family for support and praying, she now knows what she wants in a man and has grown stronger as a person.
Harrison notes America loved the fact she took off her heels after Sean broke up with her.

Next, Sean and Catherine are reunited for the first time since the show ended. They both are relieved their relationship can finally be out in the open because it was difficult to be a part and hide it for so long. However, they were both constantly on each other’s minds.

Catherine admits she had more confidence in their relationship because it progressed naturally despite being aired on TV for the nation to watch.

When Chris brings up the fact many viewers thought her letter to Sean would be her having cold feet, she replies that the thought of walking away never crossed her mind. Her tears signified that she cared and wanted to be with Sean forever.

The couple are now seeking normalcy, and enjoy quite evenings holding hands or going to the movies.

They are given the opportunity to watch Sean’s televised proposal for the first time. It elicits very different reactions for Sean and Catherine. Sean is brought to tears because he loves her so much. Catherine is embarrassed because it seems as though she is about to faint from excitement. In fact, Sean remembers she was so overcome with joy that she didn’t even notice her engagement ring until he pointed it out.

Although Catherine and Sean don’t have a date set for their wedding, they reveal that the ceremony will be aired on ABC.

Sean would prefer to have his wedding at a courthouse, but understands that women want something more elaborate. Catherine agrees that the duo should get married soon. She already has her bags packed and is ready to move in with him. Harrison jokes that he is ordained, and they have just enough time to wed before the special is over. Sean shakes his head with a laugh, admitting that he wants his family present.

Finally, Chris Harrison announces that the next Bachelorette, whose journey begins this summer, will be Desiree. Grateful for the strong support she receives from the audience, she is open and ready to meet the man of her dreams.
