'Biggest Loser' Recap: 'Make a Difference'

By Drew Barile,

This episode, “Make A Difference,” featured fashion expert Tim Gunn and famous hairstylist Ken Paves. The two gave the contestants make-overs. The children contestants also got make-overs. The contestants also were challenged when they returned home, and were forced to face old habits and food temptations. The eliminations were very tense and surprising.

The show began with the contestants having Tim Gunn and Ken Paves catering personally to each contestant, crafting a unique style just for them. Tim Gunn picked out various fashions for each contestant and child contestant. Everyone was so excited and loved their new selves. Bingo had a hard time adjusting to new clothes, but he is a 13-year-old boy. Danni broke down in tears as she and Tim examined the new clothes on her. Gina got a hair cut, Joe had his beard shaved, Jeff got a new hair style and even the kids had their hair cut. Lindsay and Sunny had their hair shortened and Bingo got a trim and some color.

The contestants went home after the make-over to reveal the new them to their families and friends. The contestant and their loved ones all celebrated the transformations and then each contestant was approached by a loved one with a note form Allison that said that everyone who made a percentage weight loss would be immune from elimination. Joe, for instance had to lose 14 percent, but his twin brother challenged him to make it 15 percent, and they worked out together. Jeff had some struggles as he went out to his favorite place with a large group of friends, and they all ordered a lot of food with high calories. Jeff managed to not succumb to temptation but admitted it was the hardest thing he has ever done.

At eliminations, everyone made their percentage weight lost. Gina lost 10 pounds and broke down into tears from happiness. Joe performed the best with a 17-pound loss; he was so excited. Even Dolvett commented that Joe smiled the biggest he had ever seen, and said that Joe was not just losing his external weight, but his internal emotional weight. No one was eliminated and the next episode is, "Down to the Wire," which airs Monday, March 11 at 8 P.M.
