Bruno Mars' second album gets the number one spot

Bruno Mars is No. 1.

The latest album from Mr. Mars, Unorthodox Jukebox has coveted the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200, reported MTV.com.

The second studio album from Bruno Mars was released on December 2 so it took three months for the record to hit No. 1.

This top spot hit could have something to do with the fact that Amazon sold the album for a special $1.99 sale. After the one-day sale, the album price was raised to $3.99, which also helped increase sales.

The record sales were up 96 percent and now the album is nearing the 1 million milestone thanks to the Amazon sale.

According to The New York Times, Unorthodox Jukebox sold 96,000 copies in the United States because of Amazon.

Mars’ latest single “When I Was Your Man” also hit the No. 2 spot on the Billboard charts this week.

Most of these sales, both the album and the single, were thanks to digital downloads which shows how much of an effect MP3s have had on the music industry.
