It looks like Star Wars: Episode VII will be an Original Trilogy reunion after all. After Mark Hamill confirmed that Disney and Lucasfilm are talking with him, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, Fisher confirmed in an interview that she will be back.
In a new interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, the actress was asked if she could confirm that she will play Princess Leia again. At first, she only said “Yes,” but when asked about where Leia is now, she joked, “She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home.”
Fisher added, “I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”
When asked if she’s still wearing those famous buns in her hair, Fisher replied, “The bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she’s 20-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalized.”
Fisher has been ready to reprise the role from the moment the new movie was announced, telling TMZ in November that she would do it again. Last month, there were also rumors that Ford, Hamill and Fisher will be back.
Hamill sort of confirmed those rumors in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “They're talking to us,” the actor, who played Luke Skywalker, said. However, he joked, “I probably learn more from Entertainment Tonight than I do directly from Lucasfilm.”
Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams and is set for a 2015 release. Nothing is confirmed until Disney makes a statement and they haven’t released any casting news.
