Funny woman Kim Wayans is set to star in CBS’s drama pilot Reckless, which is completing for a slot this fall.
According to Indiewire.com, the In Living Color alumna will join Georgina Haig. The show will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who is known for directing Twilight and, more recently, Red Riding Hood.
Dana Stevens’ script served as the inspiration and blueprint for the show Deadline.com reports. Stevens is known for writing the scripts for City of Angels, For the Love of the Game, and most recently Safe Haven.
Wayans had a few dramatic roles but she was spectacular as a mother to a lesbian teen in 2011’s Pariah.
Reckless will be set in Charleston, South Carolina and focuses on Jamie, a Yankee attorney who is trying to adjust to southern living and Roy, a Southern city attorney who may or may not like Jamie.
The two try to hide their budding romance while fighting over a major police sex scandal. Vi (played by Wayans) acts as Jamie’s paralegal.
This is one of many new legal/cop dramas coming out fall 2013 for CBS.
