Skyfall actor Daniel Craig had an uncharacteristic lapse in self-control when he snatched a fan’s phone away to prevent him from taking pictures of Craig and his wife, actress Rachel Weisz.
The Daily Star first reported the story, explaining that Craig and Weisz were at a supermarket near their home in New York. When Craig saw a fan taking pictures on a cellphone he yelled, “Is watching me food shopping with my wife really all that interesting to you?”
According to a source, Craig then grabbed the phone and seemed on the verge of breaking it before Weisz stepped in to talk her husband down. Craig returned the cell intact on the condition that all photos and videos of him were deleted. Weisz also calmly talked to the fan about the A-list couple’s right to privacy. The fan reportedly apologized for upsetting the stars.
Craig has always embodied his iconic spy character, James Bond, with his perpetually cool and unflinching demeanor. Craig told GQ Magazine last year in an interview, “I think there's a lot to be said for keeping your own counsel…If you sell [your privacy] off, it's gone. It's precious. It's worth more than money. You can't buy your privacy back.”
This may explain the British star’s overreaction to a fan who interrupted his shopping excursion. In fact, both Craig and Weisz are known to be a very private couple. E! Online reported in 2011 that the two met on the set of the psycho-thriller The Dream House. A few months later they were married in a ceremony with only four attendants: Weisz’s son, Craig’s daughter, and two friends of the couple.
After the success of Skyfall, Craig has signed on for two more Bond films.
