Danielle Fishel covers the April issue of Maxim, in which she speaks about her time on Boy Meets World, as well as the dating rumors surrounding her and Ben Savage.
The former Boy Meets World star is all set to appear in the sequel to the hit show, titled Girl Meets World, alongside former co-star Savage, she reveals to Maxim.
When asked how her character Topanga got her name, Fishel says, "Michael Jacobs, who created Boy Meets World, says he was driving down the highway when production called and said, 'We need a name for this character!' He happened to be driving past Topanga Canyon, so he said, 'Topanga.' He says that if they had called him two miles later, I would’ve been named Canoga, which is the next exit."
On the public's attachment to the old series, she says, "We were in people’s family rooms every Friday for seven years. When I watch old episodes, it’s like watching home movies, so I imagine that other people feel the same way. ABC’s TGIF lineup was probably the one time a week when parents and kids all watched TV together."
The 31-year-old went on to confirm that she recently had dinner with Savage and their other co-stars Rider Strong and Will Friedle, spurring the interviewer to ask whether she and Savage used to date or not.
"No! That rumor was entirely my fault because I once said, on The Tyra Banks Show, that Ben and I went on a date, and that turned into 'Danielle and Ben dated,' she tells Maxim. "We went on one date, when I was about 15, and by the time the dinner was over we realized mutually that we were more like family than lovers."
Savage expressed his excitement about the sequel back in November, tweeting, "I'm going to be a father! Well, on TV at least. The 'Boy Meets World' sequel is officially happening!"
