It looks like David O. Russell, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper will be a big part of awards season for the second straight year. The Silver Linings Playbook team will be working on a currently untitled film that Sony has scheduled for December.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Sony has scheduled the film formerly known as American Bullshit for Dec. 13. It will expand nationwide on Christmas Day.
Lawrence joined the film last month, securing a small role as Christian Bale’s wife. The film focuses on a 1970s FBI operation called ABSCAM that exposed a scandal involving Congressmen and other government officials.
In addition to Bale, who won an Oscar for Russell’s The Fighter in 2011, the film also stars Cooper, Louis C.K., Jeremy Renner and another Fighter star, Amy Adams.
Annapurna Pictures and Atlas Entertainment are producing.
Russell has been on a roll lately, with The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook both earning Best Picture and Best Director nominations at the Oscars. Lawrence also won Best Actress for SLP last month.
Lawrence and Cooper also co-star in Susanne Bier’s Serena, which hits theaters on Sept. 27.
