ABC’s comedy pilot Bad Management has put together a trio of stars with plenty of TV experience on their resumes. David Spade, Rachel Harris, and Alan Thicke will all star in the Sharon Hogan-written project.
Spade, who currently stars on CBS’ Rules of Engagement, and Harris (Wreck-It Ralph, New Girl) joined the pilot back in February, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. Hogan, who starred on HBO’s Pulling, will also star in the series and wrote the pilot with Holly Walsh (Dead Boss). Ben Taylor has been tapped to direct. Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan will co-executive produce.
The Wrap reports that Growing Pains star Thicke joined on Wednesday.
In Bad Management, Spade will play Tobias Eastmore Jr., whose father (Thicke) owns a department store. Like his Rules character, he’s a womanizer and the inheritor of the business.
Spade’s decision to join the show likely means that Rules will get canceled at the end of this season. Both Patrick Warburton and Adhir Kalyan have already joined pilots at CBS and NBC, respectively.
In other pilot news, THR is reporting that Dermot Mulroney, who also recently appeared on New Girl, will join Life creator Rand Ravich’s NBC pilot. Stevie Lynn Jones, Max Martini, and Gillian Anderson will also co-star.
