Although NBC attempted to cover up Don Pardo’s absence last Saturday with an impersonator, fans of Saturday Night Live couldn’t help but notice the legendary announcer was M.I.A.
Kevin Hart was considered one of the funniest hosts of the season, but viewers couldn’t help but be distracted by the imitation Don Pardo. The 95-year-old has been a part of the show since its 1975 start, only missing one season back in 1980. But last Saturday Pardo could not attend the show, and according to TMZ , a broken hip is the reason why.
But no worries, reports claim that the announcer is currently recovering and will return to the show as soon as he can.
Pardo has a long history on NBC, first appearing as the announcer of the original Jeopardy back in 1944, reports Media Bistro.
Many viewers tweeted about his absence, with one fan writing, “Who else noticed the new announcer on SNL this week I’m so disturbed and I feel betrayed” and another tweeting, “I wish they would get an announcer that doesn’t sound like an unwell ghost.” Hopefully Pardo will return for next week’s show.
