Following Joy Behar’s announcement that she will not return to the ABC talk show, The View, rumors surfaced that Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be relieved of her position because of her aggressive political views. However, a rep for the show has since responded in order to debunk the rumors.
Us Weekly reported the ‘exclusive’ story stating that the strong minded Republican did not sit well with viewers. One source claimed, “The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing. People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."
Hasselbeck first appeared on the show in 2003, and according to E! News the 35-year-old co-host is not going anywhere soon. “Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of The View and has a long-term contract,” a rep for The View explains.
News of Hasselbeck’s alleged exit comes just 24 hours after Behar announced that after nearly 17 years on the show she would move on to other projects.
Hasselbeck has not released a statement regarding the rumor.
