Elizabeth Olsen to star in off-Broadway ‘Romeo & Juliet’ production

While her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen continue to make a name for themselves in the fashion world, Elizabeth Olsen’s profile is steadily rising, thanks to her roles in indie films like Martha Marcy May Marlene. Now, she’s ready to head to the stage in an off-Broadway production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.

The Classic Theater Company said today that Olsen will star in a the production of the timeless tale of love during its 2013-14 season this fall, reports The New York Times.

According to BroadwayWorld, CST’s artistic director Brian Kulick and executive director Greg Reiner will announce the rest of the creative team and casting at a later date.

Olsen does have some Broadway experience as an understudy on the 2009 production of Impressionism and 2008 off-Broadway play Dust.

Olsen has been an indie darling since her acclaimed performance in 2011’s Martha Marcy May Marlene. She also appeared in Liberal Arts and the upcoming Kill Your Darlings with Daniel Radcliffe. She is currently working on Spike Lee’s remake of Old Boy with Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Brolin. Olsen has also been announced to star in the 2014 Godzilla reboot.
