After a week-long visit Down Under, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres said she can see herself living there someday with her Australian-born wife, actress Portia de Rossi.
According to People magazine, DeGeneres was in Melbourne with her mother and de Rossi for a six-day taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Three thousand enthusiastic fans watched as she filmed Aussie-themed episodes near Sydney Harbor. Guest stars included Australian Idol runner-up, Jessica Mauboy, and the actor Russell Crowe.
Upon arriving and seeing the hyped-up crowds, DeGeneres exclaimed, “I'm moving here, it's so beautiful!”
In between filming, DeGeneres took a tour of Australia with her wife. She tweeted: “Portia's finally getting to show me her beautiful country.” The couple visited de Rossi’s old elementary school, Melbourne Girls Grammar School, and spent a day at the Taronga Zoo.
At the end of the week, DeGeneres, her mother and de Rossi attended a star-studded dinner party held in the Emmy-winning host’s honor at the Grand Hyatt. While there, she told the Herald Sun how warmed she was by the overwhelming support of her Australian fanbase.
“I shouldn't put it out there, but I can see us living here one day,” DeGeneres said.
The move won’t be happening anytime soon, though. DeGeneres continued, “I've got shows to do, but I can see it happening.”
Nevertheless, DeGeneres was smitten by the beautiful country, saying, "This is the most incredible trip, I will never forget it."
