Emma Watson responds to 'Fifty Shades of Grey' rumors

Despite various reports, the actress will not be in the film

While it has been confirmed that the popular erotica novel Fifty Shades of Grey will be made into a movie, Emma Watson will not be playing the lead female role of Anastasia.

Following her long run in the Harry Potter franchise as Hermione Granger, Watson has planned to take on more serious roles, but that of a sexually-dominated young college student is not one of them. The actress dispelled the rumors via her Twitter account posting on Saturday, "Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life."

The 22-year-old actress was responding to the many reports that she would be cast in the highly anticipated film. According to Perez Hilton, a group known as Anonymous hacked into the accounts of German production studio Constantin Films, which had documents linking Emma to the adaptation.

Watson isn’t the first starlet who has denied a tie to the film after news sources claimed otherwise. As Glamour UK reports, there was much talk of Mila Kunis playing Anastasia Steele. But at a press conference for her current release, Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful, Kunis joked, “This Fifty Shades Of Grey thing is just not going to leave is it!" Alas, it was yet another false statement, as Kunis said, “No, you will not see me in [Shades], I'm sorry."

It seems the only surefire way to know who will indeed be cast for the role is to wait until Focus Features releases an official trailer.
