Emma Watson shuts down rumors about playing Anastasia Steele in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie

Perks of Being a Wallflower star Emma Watson has dismissed the rampant rumors that she is the leading lady in the anticipated film adaptation of romance novel Fifty Shades of Grey, Britain’s best-selling book in recorded history.

Watson took to Twitter earlier this morning to finally address the matter, tweeting: “Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For Real. In real life.”

These rumors have run rampant since last year, but regained momentum on Wednesday when a hacker group called Anonymous bragged on Twitter that they had broken into the system of Constantin Films — the studio that is producing Fifty Shades, among many other film projects.

One of the documents Anonymous got hold of allegedly linked Watson to the role of Anastasia Steele, the lover of the mysterious and sexy billionaire, Christian Grey, for the novel’s on-screen production.

The next day, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Constantin Films had indeed been hacked. However the studio refuted the part about Watson, insisting that the Fifty Shades document was out of date and therefore not indicative of current progress on the film’s production.

And if that wasn’t enough to quell hungry fans, the best-selling author herself, E.L. James, tweeted: “There have been no casting decisions made about Fifty Shades.”

Watson says she is used to the gossip, even from her friends. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last July, the actress said, “I told them just because there are 60 articles on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s any less true than if there are three or four.

“The thing is I’m not going to go out there every time someone attaches me to a film to say no or release a statement,” she added.
