A touching story has gained momentum after a young man was overheard by his father that he was struggling to come out to his parents. Rather than make his son feel pressured to "come out," his father wrote him a loving and heartfelt note of support stating that he has known his son was gay and that he has loved him since the day he was born.
According to Mashable, the story went viral after youth activist group FCKH8 posted the letter on their official Facebook page.
The letter reads, “Nate, I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class. We are out, like you now. I've known you were gay since you were six, I've loved you since you were born. Dad. P.S. Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple."
Following its posting on Facebook, the touching letter has received over 78,000 likes and 47,000 plus shares and nearly 6,000 comments.
Luke Montgomery, FCKH8.com cofounder opened up about the letter to Yahoo! noting that he almost missed the letter as the organization receives a significant amount of emails every day.
Montgomery expressed that upon reading the note he “cried,” explaining, “It’s what I want…It’s what everyone wants.”
