First Lady Michelle Obama invites Adele and Beyonce to headline her 50th birthday bash, sources say

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

America’s beloved First Lady Michelle Obama is already prepping for a blowout 50th birthday party at the White House next January. What is sure to be a celebrity-packed event hit a new level of high profile when Grammy award-winners Adele and Beyonce accepted invitations to perform.

The Daily Mail was informed by an unnamed source that “Adele has graciously accepted [the invitation] and waived her usual fee for the high-profile private performance. She will sing a selection of her most-loved hits for the First Lady and her friends.”

This invitation comes in the wake of Adele’s Oscar victory for her Bond-hit “Skyfall.” Her performance at the award ceremony marked one of her first public appearances since she gave birth to her baby boy Angelo last October.

Beyonce herself has maintained a close relationship with the Obamas; she performed at the president’s second inauguration this past January and back in 2009 at the president’s first inaugural ball, he and Mrs. Obama danced to Beyonce’s cover of “At Last.”
