Star Wars creator George Lucas has confirmed that Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo will all be back in the seventh movie installment of the Star Wars franchise.
According to the Associated Press, Lucas has confirmed in an interview that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will all play their same roles from the original trilogy in the new movie due out in 2015.
The Internet was abound with many rumors about the classic trio--most of which got out through second-hand sources in recent weeks.
This week, Lucas confirmed that the three were signed on for the movie even before the $4 billion Disney purchase of Lucasfilm in late 2012.
"Maybe I'm not supposed to say that,” Lucas said, “I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do."
In the same report, a spokesperson for Disney’s Lucasfilm downplayed the Lucas announcement, saying that neither they nor Lucas can confirm that it’s true.
According to the Star Wars official website, Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt has been dubbed the writer for the film, and has had some guidance from Lucas himself. According to several reports, the story has been finished for a while now, and Leia, Luke and Han will reportedly play smaller supporting roles for the new trilogy.
