Georgia Police: Anonymous tip led to baby shooter's arrest

By Kyle A. Jones,

Police in Brunswick, GA believe an anonymous tip helped them make arrests in the shooting death of a baby.

CNN reports that the Brunswick police department said Sunday they received a tip that a person was crouched in the back seat of a vehicle as it drove away Thursday.

The Huffington Post reports that The Glynn Count detectives division spent hours following up on the tip and arrested a 15-year-old suspect. His statements led them to later arrest 17-year-old De’Marquise Elkins.

Elkins is charged with the murder of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago.

The baby’s mother Sherry West said she was walking home when Elkins and the 15-year-old suspect approached her asking for money. West said when she told them she had no money, the teen drew a gun and said “Do you want me to kill your baby?”

West said the teen then proceeded to walk over to the baby stroller and shot the baby in the face.

Elkins' family says he did not shoot the baby.
